Prof. Dr. FAN Junxuan from the NIGPAS, among a total of 198 awardees, was granted the 2017 “National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars” for his research programme “Quantitative Stratigraphy, Paleobiology and Paleogeography”.  

　　The National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars was founded in 1994, directed by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). It was set up to support the young scholars (under the age of 45) who have already achieved distinguished progress in basic research to choose independently from their interested areas, which is of encouragement of innovations. The Fund is targeted on the cultivation of China’s own leading figures in world science and technology frontiers.
