Responds to the Chinese Academy of Sciences’ guidance, NIGPAS has completed the proposal for the 14th Five-Year Plan in 2021. Three main research directions will be strengthened in future, including Origin and Early Evolution of Life on Earth, Origin and Evolution of Terrestrial Ecosystems, and High-Resolution Palaeogeography for Geological Basin of Sedimentary Minerals. Further, three cutting-edge research directions will be focused, i.e. Major biological events and ecosystem evolution in the Deep Time, Climate Change in Deep Time and Palaeo-Astrobiology, and Digital Palaeontology & Stratigraphy and Big Data Analysis.
