Research subjects include macro- and microscopic plant fossils; systematics and origin of the major plant groups; phytogeography;
Cenozoic environments and global change; environmental archaeology; and application of palynology to petroleum exploration. Current
research is focused on the following topics:
Origin, development and evolution of selected fossil plant groups;
Palynofloral provinces and palaeoenvironment (palaeoclimate, palaeoecology, palaeogeography);
Plant taphonomy;
Ultrastructure of fossilized plant cells;
Coevolution of terrestrial ecosystems, flora and environment;
Biostratigraphy, environmental archaeology and applied palynology.
