The NIGPAS library, founded in 1953, now houses over 280,000 volumes of professional books and tomes on palaeontology and stratigraphy. Among these are included approximately 200,000 volumes of foreign journals of nearly 2000 various titles, some of which were published before the 20th century and can even be traced back to the 1770s. We maintain long-term exchange programs of publications with over 200 universities and research institutes from more than 40 countries, and receive approximately 300 types of serial publications, which have become a vital resource for our library. The library’s collection is well-systematized, topically diverse, and professionally focused. It is currently the largest professional library for palaeontology and stratigraphy in Asia. During recent years, the library has enhanced its online digital access, and endeavours to serve as a literature platform and to build a large abstract database of palaeontology and stratigraphy. |
