The joint academic conference 2021 of Palaeobotanical Subcommittee of the Palaeontological Society of China (PSC) and Jiangsu Province Palaeontological Society (JSPS) was held in Changchun, Jilin Province in 9-14 July. This conference was themed as “Green vegetation vs. Deep time environment” and undertaken by Paleontology and Stratigraphy Research Center of Jilin University. At the opening ceremony, Mr Bian Tie, Vice President of Jilin University, expressed welcome to all participants and wished the palaeobotany conference a great success.

Nearly 200 palaeobotanists, scholars, and postgraduates attended this academic conference. Participants of this conference came from over 20 universities, such as Jilin University, Peking University, and Nanjing University, over 10 scientific research institutions, such as Nanjing Institute of Geology and Palaeontology, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences, as well as national and provincial geological museums, geological survey units, and publishing houses.

The conference includes academic reporting and fieldwork. Palaeobotanical Subcommittee of the Palaeontological Society of China holds academic meeting every two years. The last one, the 9th Palaeobotany conference of the PSC, was held in Zigui, Hubei Province in November of 2018. The present joint meeting was postponed on account of the COVID-19, and has been the first national palaeobotanical meeting since 2018. Next one will be in Chang’an Univeristy (Xi’an) in 2023.
