Updatetime: 2011-05-10

After several official dialogues exchanged between Nanjing Institute of Geology and Palaeontology Chinese Academy of Sciences (NIGPAS) and Paleontological Institute, Russian Academy of Sciences (PIN RAS),Director Qun Yan of NIGPAS and Director A. Yu. Rozanov of PIN RAS have reached an agreement recently and signed the Memorandum of Understandings to promote science and cultural exchanges between China and Russia.

In the recent visits to Moscow,  professor Jih-Pai Lin of NIGPAS had discussed possibilities of future research collaboration with Russian colleagues. Both Chinese and Russian colleagues had proposed an initiative to form a collaborative research team, consisting of Precambrian and Cambrian specialists at the NIGPAS and PIN RAS, to study biospheric evolution through the window of Konservat-Lagerst?tten across the Proterozoic-Phanerozoic transition. This initiative is a stepping stone to future paleontological research exchange programs, including studies of museum collection, field excursions for visiting classic fossil sites in both China and Russia and exchanges of students and/or postdoctoral scientists, between the NIGPAS and PIN RAS.
