On September 29, Dr. Richard Hughes, Secretary General of the Council of the Geological Society of London, wrote to inform that Prof. ZHU Maoyan of the Nanjing Institute of Geology and Palaeontology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (NIGPAS), was elected as an Honorary Fellow of the Geological Society of London at the Ordinary General Meeting. This is the second time that scientist of NIGPAS has received this honor after RONG Jiayu.
According to the website of the Geological Society of London (https://www.geolsoc.org.uk/About/Honorary-Fellows/List-of-Honorary-Fellows), there were four Chinese geologists, and they are Academician WANG Pinxian, Academician RONG Jiayu, Academician DING Zhongli and Prof. XU Xing, respectively.
