The Vice Chancellor of the University of Birmingham visited NIGPAS

On April 20, Jon Frampton, Vice Chancellor of the University of Birmingham, and ZHENG Yingyi, Director of the University of Birmingham China Office, visited Nanjing Institute of Geology and Palaeontology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (NIGPAS), and had a bilateral discussion and exchange.

Research Professer WANG Jun, deputy director of NIGPAS, firstly expressed a warm welcome to the visit of the University of Birmingham and briefly introduced the participants.

After that, Research Professer ZHAN Renbin, the director of NIGPAS, introduced the history of the Institute, the main research directions, the representative scientific progress achieved in recent years and international cooperation in detail.

ZHAN says, “Mr. LI Siguang, the first director of the Institute, went to the University of Birmingham in 1913 and was awarded a PhD in 1931. The Institute has a long history of cooperation with the University of Birmingham, and in recent years, both sides have carried out fruitful cooperation in the fields of research and personnel training.”

During the seminar, the two sides discussed in depth about joint training of students, promotion of cooperative research, mutual exhibition of museum, and both agreed to further strengthen communication on the basis of the good cooperation in the previous period and promote the effective strategic cooperation between the two sides.
