On January 17th , Research Professor WANG Jun, Director of Nanjing Institute of Geology and Palaeontology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (NIGPAS), and BATBOLD MUNKHTUR, Director General of National Geological Survey, implementing agency of the Government of Mongolia (NGS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on behalf of each units respectively.
NGS has close contacts with the Early Paleozoic team of NIGPAS, especially after the 37th International Geological Congress in 2024 and the field communication after the conference, the teams of both sides discussed the future cooperation direction and prospect in depth. The signing of this MoU will help promote scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation in paleontology and geology between the two sides, provide opportunities for exchange visits for researchers and young scientists from both sides, and promote the two sides to jointly apply for research funds, cooperate in projects, and jointly organize international conferences and academic seminars and other communication channels.
Under the background of "One Belt, One Road" initiative and international cooperation in the construction of China-Mongolia-Russia economic corridor, in the process of promoting the construction of national key laboratories of NIGPAS, in-depth cooperation with Mongolian energy and resource industry departments and geological survey units will help the two units realize a high degree of resource sharing, complement each other's advantages, and promote the development of regional and field scientific and technological cooperation to a higher level and a wider field.
