Seventeen representatives from NIGPAS were invited to attend the 6th International Palaeontological Congress in Khon Kaen, Thailand from November 7 to 11, 2022. Prof. ZHAN Renbin, the Director of NIGPAS and Secretary-General of the International Palaeontological Association (IPA), was invited to give a plenary talk about the contributions from China on palaeontology in the 21st century.
During the visit, all the representatives of NIGPAS actively participated in academic activities. The oral presentations cover the topics of the Cambrian explosion, the Ordovician radiation, the evolution of the terrestrial ecosystem from Paleozoic to Mesozoic, the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau scientific research, and the research history of NIGPAS.
On November 9, the NIGPAS delegation was invited to visit Mahasarakham University, the host of the conference, and had a discussion with Dr. Prayook Srivilai, president of the university and some other officers. After a cheerful discussion, the two sides reached a broad consensus on further collaborations under the MOU signed in November 2019, such as joint research, co-supervising graduate students, and mutual exhibitions of particular themes.
