Four achievements led by NIGPAS were selected as the Top Ten Progresses in Chinese Paleontology in 2019

  On April 7, 2020, the Chinese Society of Paleontology released the selection results of the “Top Ten Progresses in Chinese Paleontology in 2019” in Nanjing. A group of international-level scientific research results led by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Peking University, Northwest University, China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) and other research institutes and universities were selected.

  The four achievements led by NIGPAS include: "New Ediacaran fossils elucidate early animal evolution" completed by researcher CHEN Zhe, and "Jurassic feathered dinosaur providing direct evidence for the molecular evolution of feathers" by Prof. PAN Yanhong, "Cretaceous Burmese amber reveals ancient forest environment and insect pollination of angiosperms" completed by Prof. WANG Bo and "The Early Ediacaran Caveasphaera Foreshadows the Evolutionary Origin of Animal-like Embryology" by researcher YIN Zhongjun. In addition, the research on "The most extensive Devonian fossil forest (also the oldest forest of Asia) with trees bearing the earliest stigmarian roots" participated by Assistant Researcher HUANG Pu was also selected for this top ten progress.
