Abstract:
The present paper is the first report of Jurassic nonmarine Ostracods from the Chaoshui Basin which is located at northern Gansu Province and southern Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of northwest China. Here 10 species belonging to 3 genera are described, including 2 new species.
The ostracod fauna is characterized by the association of Darwinula, Timiriasevia, Djungarica, and can be correlated with that of the Qigu Formation from Xinjiang and of the Bazhulu Formation from Yunnan, West China. It is also correspond with the nonmarine ostracod faunas intercalated in the marine sequence of several areas from North Africa, dated Callovian of Middle Jurassic. Based on the distribution and correlation of the ostracod fauna, the upper member of the Ningyuanpu Formation from the Chaoshui Basin in age may be referred to the late Middle Jurassic (Callovian).
