pp. 49-74, 5 plates, in English

Abstract:

The poorly known bivalve genus Pseudosanguinolites is redescribed, based on new material from Lower Devonian of Sichuan, China. The taxonomic position of this and a number of related or similar taxa is fully discussed. The Permophoridae is synonymised with Modiomorphidae and provisionally placed in the Anomalodesmata, Pholadomyoida, within the established superfamily Midiomorphacea. The Actinodontophoridae is removed from Unionacea and placed in the Midiomorphacea. Unionites is removed from the Pachycardiidae and placed in the Modiomorphidae. The Hippopodiidae is removed from the Heterodonta, Crassatellacea, and placed in the Modiomorphacea. Modiophorus gen. nov. is described and placed in the Modiomorphidae, Myoconchinae. Within the Mytiloida the Modiolopsidae is raised to superfamily status and a new family Modiolodontidae, based on the Ordovician genus Modiolodon, placed within it.
