A new Tabulata coral from the Lower Carboniferous in West Yunnan: Palaeocis lata n. sp.

Abstract:

The tabulate coral genus Palaeacis Haime is described for the first time from China. The specimens, which were collected from Upper Tournaisian Yudong Formation in the Baoshan District, West Yunnan, are here referred to a new species, P. lata n. sp. It is characterized by small, wedge-shaped corallum with width greater than length or thickness, net-like ornamentation, irregular arrangement of corallites and remained attachment to the substrates throughout all growth stage.
